How Framework Venture Partners is Transforming Investor Relations with a Unified Platform
"Vessel's allowed us to really collect a lot of that information, make it a lot easier to review it in one shot and be able to calculate a lot of things quickly. It's definitely a huge step up from what we were used to."
Divina Advento, Director of Finance & Operations, Framework Venture Partners
About Framework Venture Partners
Framework Venture Partners is a leading Canadian venture capital firm focused on early-stage fintech investments across North America. With multiple funds under management—including a CAD-denominated Fund 1 and USD-denominated Fund 2—the firm has built a reputation for backing transformative financial technology companies.
The Framework team manages a growing portfolio of companies while serving a diverse investor base that includes institutional LPs, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. Led by a team of experienced investors, Framework is committed to providing institutional-grade transparency and reporting to all their stakeholders.
As the firm scaled to multiple funds and an expanding portfolio, the operations team—including Director of Finance & Operations Divina Advento and Monica Johal—recognized the need for a comprehensive platform that could unify their investor relations, fundraising, and reporting workflows.
Opportunity
Framework's growth created significant operational complexity. The team was managing investor communications, quarterly reporting, data rooms, and portfolio monitoring across disconnected systems—with much of the critical work happening in Google Sheets.
"A lot of this resided in Google Sheets prior," explains Divina Advento. "Our dashboard was in Google Sheets, our account updates were all in Google Sheets. It was just per investment, we had various tabs that fed into each other that then would format into a one-pager."
As the firm added more portfolio companies and launched new funds, this manual approach became increasingly unsustainable. The quarterly reporting process required extensive manual data entry, formula management, and document distribution. Multi-currency reporting between CAD and USD funds added another layer of complexity.
The firm needed a solution that could handle everything from fundraising data rooms to LP reporting to portfolio company tracking—all while maintaining the white-labeled, professional experience their sophisticated investor base expected.
Solution
Framework partnered with Vessel to consolidate their entire investor relations infrastructure onto a single, integrated platform. The implementation spanned multiple use cases across the firm's operations.
Unified Investor Portal
Framework deployed Vessel's white-labeled investor portal as the central hub for LP communications. Investors now access a branded experience at investorrelations.framework.vc, where they can view their commitments across multiple funds, track performance metrics, and access all documents in one place.
"Framework uses Vessel for everything related to fundraising and IR," notes Thomas Terrats, CEO of Vessel. "You can get a full 360 view on a contact—see everything that's happening with that investor."
The platform automatically aggregates portfolio views across Framework's CAD and USD funds, converting currencies at quarter-end rates so investors can toggle between currencies and see their complete investment picture.
Streamlined Fundraising Operations
For Fund 3 and co-investment opportunities, Framework uses Vessel's data room capabilities to manage the entire fundraising process. The team can stage documents, set granular permissions for different investor groups, and track engagement in real-time.
When Framework partnered with UBS on a secondary transaction, Vessel enabled seamless collaboration. "We've set it up so both us and Framework have admin access to upload information, stage the data room, and manage permissioning," explains Nicholas Dentato from UBS. The platform's flexible permission groups allowed the team to manage access as buyers progressed through different stages of due diligence.
Digital Teasers and Video Content
Rather than relying solely on static documents, Framework leverages Vessel's page editor to create digital teaser experiences. The team embeds video content—including partner presentations explaining investment theses—directly into data rooms.
"The biggest problem in creating momentum is friction," explains Terrats. "If Peter is traveling and buyers want to talk to him, it takes four days to get a meeting set up. With digital teasers and video, we build trust faster by showing we're organized."
Quarterly Reporting Automation
The transition from Google Sheets to an integrated reporting system has transformed Framework's quarterly workflow. Monica Johal can now set up recurring data requests to portfolio companies, track submissions, and generate LP reports that automatically pull the latest metrics.
"We use them now for all of our account updates, and they were able to closely design them to what we were doing in the past, which was great," says Johal. "I would just have to roll forward the date that we're looking for, and all this stuff will get populated automatically based on the reporting date."
Consolidated LP Communications
All quarterly reports, capital call notices, and fund documents are now distributed through a single platform, with automatic notifications and tracking.
Multi-Currency Support
LPs invested across Framework's CAD and USD funds can view aggregated performance with automatic FX conversion at quarter-end rates.
360-Degree Contact Views
Every investor interaction—from document views to capital calls to data room activity—is captured in comprehensive contact profiles.
Impact
Framework's implementation of Vessel has fundamentally changed how the operations team approaches investor relations—shifting from reactive, manual processes to proactive, systematic engagement.
The unified platform has eliminated the fragmentation that previously characterized Framework's IR operations. Where the team once managed separate workflows for fundraising, reporting, and investor communications, they now operate from a single system that provides complete visibility into every investor relationship.
"In comparison to what we were currently using, we're pretty big fans," says Advento. "And as we continue to scale and add more and more portfolio companies, the platform allowed us to really collect that information, make it a lot easier—at least for me from a reviewer perspective—to review it in one shot and be able to give me a sense of trusting the information that's being ingested."
The platform's flexibility has proven particularly valuable as Framework executes increasingly complex transactions. For their secondary transaction with UBS, the team could spin up a dedicated data room environment within 24 hours, configure custom permission groups for different buyer tiers, and provide real-time activity dashboards to all stakeholders.
Looking ahead, Framework continues to expand their use of the platform—building out portfolio company pages, creating content hubs for investor engagement, and exploring automated reporting capabilities. The foundation they've built positions them to scale operations efficiently as they launch new funds and grow their investor base.
"I think if you want to raise in Canada, if you want to raise from the U.S., you have to be better than the U.S. firm. We have to be better at how we approach things than any other firm they could interact with."
