CAZ Investments' private markets interval fund has surpassed $900m in assets after adding more than $110m over roughly three months. The interval fund provides exposure to private equity, private credit, and real assets through a semi-liquid structure designed for high-net-worth and registered investment advisor channels. The firm has positioned the vehicle as an alternative to direct fund commitments for wealth clients seeking diversified private markets exposure.
The $110m quarterly inflow represents a 13.9% increase in assets — faster than the typical pace for interval funds, which tend to add capital steadily but not explosively given their subscription and redemption mechanics. CAZ is one of several alternative managers expanding into private wealth through interval structures, a category that has grown to more than $75bn industry-wide as of early 2024. The model appeals to GPs seeking continuous fundraising rather than vintage-locked closes, though it introduces deployment pressure: capital arrives incrementally, and the fund must remain sufficiently liquid to honor quarterly redemption windows while still achieving private markets returns.
The pace raises a deployment question worth monitoring. Interval funds typically hold 10–20% in liquid or near-liquid positions to meet redemptions, which creates drag on returns if the fund scales faster than it can commit capital to attractive privates. CAZ's $110m in three months suggests strong distribution momentum, but whether the firm can source enough high-quality underlying fund positions or co-investments to absorb that capital without sacrificing selectivity is an open question. The interval fund structure also limits how much capital the fund can deploy into any single vintage or manager — diversification requirements mean CAZ must maintain exposure across strategies and years, which can force the fund into less optimal allocations if inflows accelerate beyond the pipeline.
