Ibex Investors closed Fund II at $87m, more than doubling the size of its $40m debut fund raised less than two years earlier. The strategy targets secondary stakes in Israeli venture-backed companies, primarily acquiring positions from early employees and angel investors. The firm completed the raise in under 24 months, a fast cadence for a debut manager returning to market in a subdued fundraising cycle.
The raise stands out less for its absolute size than for what it signals about specialist positioning in a crowded secondaries market. Ibex is betting on geography-specific deal flow in a jurisdiction where cross-border buyers face structuring complexity and local relationships matter for sourcing. The 118% step-up from Fund I suggests LPs see defensible differentiation in that focus, but the test is whether $87m buys meaningful scale advantages over the debut vehicle or simply spreads the same model thinner.
The firm will need to demonstrate that Fund II can access larger secondary transactions or a different vintage profile than Fund I reached. If the portfolio ends up looking like two $40m funds stacked rather than one $87m strategy, the case for a Fund III at $150m weakens. Deployment pace over the next 18 months will clarify whether the Israel secondaries niche can absorb this much dedicated capital without compressing returns.
